The Plantronics/Poly EncorePro HW700 Series Corded Headset is the top of the Plantronics/Poly range of corded headsets. It has an over the head style, leatherette ear cushions, is wideband, noise cancelling and is designed to be used with your desk phone, smart phone, or computer (each requires the right connector cable). The Plantronics/Poly HW720 has a rotatable microphone so can be worn from either side.

The HW700 series comes with 2 wearing styles. 710; mono headband style. 720; duo headband style

All corded headsets come with a brand specific QD (quick disconnect) connection and require an adapter cable to make them compatible with your phone. These range in price from $10-$64. Many of these cables look the same but are different inside, so if you’re not 100% sure which you need, give us a call and our staff will gladly check for you.

What We Don’t Love

– Similar to other corded headsets, the wired connection may be considered less convenient, especially in confined workspaces where wires can be anoying.  Also ties you to the desk.

The telescopic noise cancelling microphone is able to be extended for precise placement, ensuring perfect listening and audio clarity. The HW700 earcups are attached to the headband by a ball & socket joint allowing them to sit perfectly for additional comfort. This is a wideband headset which means it offers the most natural sounding voice clarity but bear in mind that this is only if both you and the person calling you are on wideband phones, in which case it will just offer just standard narrowband.

It has a two year manufacturer’s guarantee and Plantronics’ outstanding warranty service. You can get replacement leatherette ear cushions if they wear out or for hygiene when new staff start. It’s a smart move to pick these up with the headset so you don’t end up paying more for postage in a few months time.

As with any corded headset, with the Plantronics/Poly HW700 series you are connected to your phone via a cable, this can be frustrating in a confined workspace where wires lying across your desk become an inconvenience or if you need the flexibility to move around while on a call. If you don’t have a headset port on your phone, a corded headset will take the place of your handset. If you still want to use the handset you can pick up a switch to allow you to swap between the two. Don’t forget to factor additional costs of cables when budgeting. If you have a phone that is difficult to match for compatibility you may have to look at an amplifier. Amps, while providing superior call control (with mute and volume controls) and sound quality, will push up the price to about the same as a wireless headset (which have an amp built in), no brainer – if you need an amp, get a wireless headset!
